Filem Suicide Squad 2 Bukanlah Filem Sambungan, Tetapi Filem Baru Sepenuhnya

Jumaat lalu, peminat filem Marvel dikejutkan dengan pengumuman yang James Gunn akan kembali ke kerusi pengarah untuk filem Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 selepas dipecat beberapa bulan lalu, yang sememangnya diharapkan oleh peminat dan barisan pelakon filem tersebut. Ini kerana sentuhan Gunn sememangnya kena sejak dari filem pertama Guardians of the Galaxy, yang berjaya mengangkat watak pasukan superhero Marvel yang kurang dikenali itu menjadi antara watak kegemaran peminat.

Walau bagaimanapun, susulan pemecatan Gunn oleh Marvel, beliau telahpun diambil oleh DC untuk mengarahkan filem The Suicide Squad, yang merupakan percubaan kedua DC untuk watak pasukan anti-hero itu selepas filem Suicide Squad (2016) arahan David Ayer, yang menemui kegagalan dan kurang mendapat sambutan walaupun menampilkan nama besar seperti Will Smith dan Margot Robbie. Kini, penerbit filem, Peter Safran mengesahkan yang filem The Suicide Squad merupakan filem reboot dan bukannya sambungan filem Suicide Squad terdahulu.

Bercakap kepada JoBlo, Safran berkata :

“We don’t call it Suicide Squad 2 ‘cause it’s a total reboot, so it’s The Suicide Squad and I think people should be extremely excited about it. It’s everything you would hope from a James Gunn script and I think that says a lot and that promises a lot and I know that we will deliver a lot. It was all handled incredibly elegantly and everybody knows on both sides that Suicide Squad is the priority today and he’ll (James Gunn) finish that movie and then everybody knows that his next film will be Guardians. It’s the best of all possible both worlds, I think, for fans and for James Gunn himself.”

Gunn mengeluarkan kenyataan berikut selepas pengumuman dia kembali sebagai pengarah Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 :

“I am tremendously grateful to every person out there who has supported me over the past few months. I am always learning and will continue to work at being the best human being I can be. I deeply appreciate Disney’s decision and I am excited to continue making films that investigate the ties of love that bind us all. I have been, and continue to be incredibly humbled by your love and support. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Love to you all.”

Filem The Suicide Squad dijadualkan untuk tayangan pada Ogos 2021.
