Bintang Slumdog Millionaire & Life of Pi, Irrfan Khan Meninggal Dunia Di Usia 53 Tahun
Portal Huffpost telah melaporkan yang pelakon Bollywood, Irrfan Khan telah meninggal dunia di usia 53 tahun di sebuah hospital di Mumbai, India. Kenyataan rasmi telah dikeluarkan oleh agensinya, Hardly Anonymous Communications berkenaan berita tersebut. Irrfan Khan pernah membintangi filem hebat seperti Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi dan Jurassic World. Beliau sebelum ini pernah berkongsi kisah di tahun 2018, menyatakan dirinya dikesan menghidap kanser neuroendocrine. Walau bagaimanapun, kematiannya disahkan sebagai jangkitan usus selepas sehari dimasukkan ke hospital.

“After having been struck by lightning in 2018 with the news of a rare cancer, he took life soon after as it came and he fought the many battles that came with it. Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heaven abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace. And to resonate and part with his words he had said, ‘As if I was tasting life for the first time, the magical side of it.’”
Selain membintangi 2 filem yang memenangi Anugerah Academy iaitu Slumdog Millionaire (2008) dan Life of Pi (2012), Irrfan turut dikenali di seluruh dunia kerana muncul dalam filem The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), Jurassic World (2015) dan Inferno (2016), beliau terlebih dahulu mencipta nama di Bollywood melalui filem Rog (2005), The Lunchbox (2013), Maqbool (2003), filem muzikal Life In A… Metro (2007).
Irrfan meninggalkan seorang isteri, Sutapa Sikdar dan dua orang anak lelaki, Babil dan Ayan. Komuniti Hollywood dan Bollywood turut memberikan ucapan kepada Irrfan di Twitter:
